Cumbria Police are urging the public to be vigilant and report incidents after a series of thefts of metal farm gates in remote areas of Carlisle.
Incidents have been reported around Kirkbampton and Moorhouse areas.
Inspector Andy Leather from Carlisle Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “In the past 36 hours we have had a number of these thefts and we are appealing for any information from anyone who may have seen gates being removed or knows of anyone involved in these incidents.
People in rural communities are asked to keep a lookout for anyone involved in these crimes and if possible record a vehicle registration number and/or photograph suspicious vehicles from a safe distance and report it to
